MPD Reports: Suspicious persons, random disputes and mental health issues

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following community alerts for the period Jan. 18 – 24, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious person, Golden Pantry, reference to black female in parking lot asking patrons for money. Female asking patrons for money in the parking lot. Female denied accusations but stated she would leave.
  • Suspicious person, Double Springs Church RD., reference to man on the side of the road standing near a Vehicle. Driver advised he and two others were just hanging out. They agreed to go elsewhere.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to woman shoplifting items from Walmart. She was arrested and released on citation and trespass warning.
  • Dispute, Hickory Dr., two subjects were disputing over a cell phone. Dispute mediated.
  • Warrant Attempt, West Marable St., reference to Kendall Smith being on location. Mr. Smith was discovered hiding in a closet and taken into custody without incident.
  • Dispute, South Madison Ave., Felker Park. Ref to dispute in the parking lot. Area searched with negative contact.
  • Counterfeit, East Marable St., Hot Spot, complainant discovered a $20.00 bill that was in his possession was counterfeit.  Report taken.
  • Warrant Served, West Spring St., KFC, reference to subject with a probation warrant for driving without a license. Arrested and transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Offoce.
  • Dispute, North Broad St., Amici Restaurant, staff advised of w/m in green shirt drunk and becoming belligerent with staff when asked to leave. Subject was gone when officers arrived, area searched with negative contact.
  • Suspicious Person, Cook Pl., complainant advised she is house sitting and someone she is unfamiliar with kept knocking on the door. Area searched with negative contact.
  • Traffic Stop, West Spring St., Mountain View, stopped Nicholas Warran for speeding on Breedlove Dr. Mr. Warran has a suspended driver’s license. He was arrested, printed, and released on citations for speeding and driving while suspended.
  • Agency Assist, Ford St., DFACS required assistance in locating male subject.  DFACS was advised he was in Loganville.
  • Domestic dispute, N Midland Ave., Sycamore Square Apts., male subject punched female subject in the face and left the scene. Warrants to be taken.
  • Stolen Vehicle, Perry St., reference to Linda Durvin attempting to report her vehicle as stolen.  Upon further investigation it was determined that Ms. Durvin was lying, and she had been previously arrested with her vehicle towed by another agency.
  • Suspicious Activity, Maple Way, three subjects were on location moving items for incarcerated male subject. They were advised to return in the daytime.
  • Burglary in Progress, Creekview Dr., reference to complainant stating someone was outside the residence talking. Area check conducted with negative contact. Complainant appears to be a mental subject.
  • Welfare Check, Masters Dr., reference to checking on male subject. A Walton County Deputy located a vehicle registered to male subject and requested a welfare check. Officer made contact with male subject over the phone; he advised all is ok. Walton County Deputy was notified.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 78/North Broad St., reference to a white GMC truck speeding and driving reckless. Vehicle left the city limits before Officer could make contact. WCSO notified by dispatch.
