MPD Reports: Welfare checks; traffic stops net arrests; mental health issues and domestic disputes

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 9 – 15, 2026,. Due to the length, this report has been split into three parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

• Suspicious Vehicle – N. Midland Ave; Monroe Pizzeria and Tavern – Complainant advised two motorcycles left location and one rider laid his bike down. Both motorcycles were located at the intersection with Spring St. Both riders have motorcycle endorsements and insurance. One rider stated he popped his clutch causing his bike to fall. Minor damage to the motorcycle and rider did not want a report.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – E Church St; Amici – In reference to a named subject driving with a suspended license. He was arrested and released on a copy of the citation.
• Suspicious Vehicle – W Spring St; Home Depot – In reference to a vehicle parked on location after hours. The vehicle was unoccupied. All appeared ok.
• Disabled Vehicle – W Spring St; Home Depot – In reference to a Nissan Rogue being stuck on the concrete median. The vehicle was able to be pushed by hand, off of the median. All ok.
• Unknown Law – E Marable St – Complainant advised screaming from next door. Contact was made at the house in question but residents stated everything was ok and we woke them. Spoke with the complainant who lives in a personal care facility. The caretaker advised me that the complaint has mental health issues.
• Traffic Stop/ Arrest – Hwy 78 Eb / Piedmont Pkwy – In reference to stopping a named subject in a Mitsubishi Outlander for suspended tag and no Insurance. Insurance was not able to be verified on scene. Vehicle turned over to Taylor’s Wrecker Service.
• Dispute – Turner St – Complainant stated her brother in law was bothering her. She stated last night he accidentally hit her in the lip with a bottle. I met with all parties who stated last night was an accident. The complainant just wanted brother in law to leave her alone. All parties agreed to stay separated.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Felker St / Mobley Cir – In reference to stopping a in an Outlander for suspended tag and no insurance. He was found to be driving without a valid license and was taken into custody. He was fingerprinted at the Monroe Police Department and released on copy of his citations. Vehicle was turned over to Taylor’s Wrecker Service.
• Traffic Stop/Wanted Person – Highway 11 / Frank’s Valero – Named subject located with an active warrant out of Walton for Criminal Trespass operating his Nissan Truck. He was arrested and transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office Jail without incident.
• Dispute – Glen Iris Drive – In reference to a civil dispute over payment for labor between two subjects. Both parties were advised of the civil process and sent on their separate ways without incident. Report taken.
• Suspicious Vehicle – S Broad St at Atha St – In reference to a vehicle in the area spilling items from the truck bed. Negative contact in the area.
• Welfare Check – E Washington St – In reference to personnel with Novalex advocate center requesting a welfare check on a female subject who had divulged to them her issues with her husband that have been ongoing. She was gone when officers arrived, but a phone conversation was held with her where she stated she was okay and appeared so over the phone.
• Child Abuse – Georgia Ave @ Walton DFCS; In reference to an incident that occurred previously on Turner Street.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – S. Madison Ave / Atha Street – Vehicle stopped for equipment violation front seat passenger was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Walton County for Child Neglect. He was transported to WCSO Jail without incident.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Highway 138 – In reference to a BOLO for Walton County of a vehicle unable to maintain lane or speed. Negative contact.
• 911 Hang-up – Ammons Bridge Road – In reference to a 911 hang up on location. Contact was made with the homeowner who advised all was ok and did not call 911.
• Vehicle Unlock – W Spring St. – Vehicle unlocked with no damage.
• Motorist Assist – E. Spring St / Madison Ave – In reference to a vehicle broken down in the roadway. The vehicle was pushed into a parking lot.
• Dispute – E Spring St: The Fish – In reference to unruly customers who were attempting to conceal items. All subjects were issued a CTN and removed from the property. Report to be taken.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – S. Madison Ave / Felker Park – Vehicle stopped for equipment violation. Back seat passenger was arrested for an active warrant out of Athens-Clarke for Probation Violation. He was transported to WCSO Jail without incident.
• Hit and run crash – West Spring St @ Swanson Dr – 2 vehicle hit and run with no injuries; a silver in color PC struck the victim and left the scene toward Hwy 138, negative contact. No vehicle or tag info available
• Suspicious Person – South Madison Ave, Post Office- In reference to subject loitering in front of the closed Post Office. Verbal warning given.
• Agency Assist – Hwy 78 / Mount Vernon in reference to an open air sniff requested by WCSO.
• EMS Assist – G W Carver Dr – In reference to the complainant advising his mother fell. His mother advised she did not request for EMS or need any assistance. All units returned back into service.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Knight Street- In reference to a Ford SUV driving back and forth in front of the complainants residence. Contact was made with subject who advised that he was looking for his friends address. Everything okay.
• Domestic Dispute – South Madison Ave- In reference to a dispute between two subjects. An arrest was not made due to conflicting statements and a lack of evidence. Parties were advised to separate for the night, and the eviction process was also explained. Report taken.
• Suspicious Vehicle – Mill Creek Way- In reference to an unsecured vehicle (trunk door left open) parked in the driveway. Contact was made with the registered owner. He advised that nothing appeared to be stolen, everything okay.
• Alarm – Captain D’s. Windows and doors secured, all appeared ok.
• Suspicious vehicle – Masters Dr at Ammons Bridge Rd. In reference to a Music Plumbing vehicle parked off the side of the road near the entrance. The vehicle was unoccupied and was not reported stolen.
• Accident – West Spring Street at Highway 138. Two vehicles, no injuries reported on scene. Report in GEARS.
• Accident – McDaniel Street at Breedlove Drive. Two vehicles, no injuries were reported on scene. Named was taken into custody for driving without a valid driver’s license. He was transported to the Monroe Police Department for fingerprinting and released on copies of citations. Report in GEARS.
• EMS Assist – Turner Street; In reference to a male caller throwing up for a week. All okay, TOT EMS.
• 911 Hang-Up – Hill Street; Contact made on location with subject who stated that all was okay.
• EMS Assist – Breedlove Dr; Ridgeview – In reference to two patients on location, both under a 1013 order, who had been in a physical altercation. Multiple staff members on location advised the combat between the two was mutual. Call turned over to EMS upon their arrival.
• Alarm – S Broad Street: Secure Self-Storage – Entry alarm. Property Manager on location advised all okay on location.
• Suspicious Vehicle – N Broad St at Bold Spring Ave – In reference to a tractor trailer traveling Northbound on HWY 11 with a possible defective tire. Contact was made with the driver and all was ok.
• Traffic Stop/Arrest – Hwy 78 / E Spring St.- A named subject was taken into custody for Driving While License Suspended, No Insurance and Speeding.
• Dispute – W Marable Street – In reference to a dispute over a broken window. Subject was 10-13 by Advantage Staff who was on scene with units. Subject was transported to Advantage in Athens.
• Residential Alarm – 4th Street – The alarm was cancelled by the alarm company prior to arrival.
• Other Law – S Madison Ave; Quick Pick – Complainant reporting his 16 year-of-age son had been sold vapes from local store. Report taken.
• Mental Patient – Breedlove Dr – Ridgeview Institute – In reference to a patient being emotional. The situation was handled by staff prior to Officer’s arrival and no law enforcement action was taken.
• 911 Hang-Up – Ammons Bridge Rd – In reference to open air on the line. Contact made with the homeowner and he advised all okay.
