MPD Reports: Woman says GPS directed her walk from Covington to Monroe after car trouble

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 14 – 20, 2025. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the Fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Vehicle – South Broad Street – In reference to MFD advising they heard a female yelling for help from a vehicle. Contact was made with the vehicle, and they advised that all was okay and that the subjects were disputing over not having enough money to pay for laundry.
  • Traffic Stop/Arrest – Pavilion Parkway – Vehicle stopped for traffic violation. Two vehicle were both placed under arrest for outstanding warrants out of Gwinnett County and Forsyth County. The subjects were transported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office Jail without incident.
  • Domestic Dispute – Ridge Rd – In reference to the complainant advising her husband who was involved in an argument over his children. Complainant advised that the subject had ripped out part of her hair while trying to take her phone from her. He admitted to pulling a portion of her hair out and was placed into custody for Family Violence Battery. He was processed and transported to the Walton County Jail without incident.
  • Dispute – West Spring Street; Walmart – In reference to juveniles yelling at the caller’s wife on the roadway. Situation mediated, parties separated.
  • Domestic Dispute – Nowell St. – In reference to a named subject and another subject getting into a physical altercation. One was placed under arrest for Simple Battery (FVA) and transported to WCSO jail. Warrant obtained, Report taken.
  • Other Law – W Spring St; Title Max – In reference to female subject claiming her car broke down in Covington, Ga, and stated she walked from Covington to Monroe due to her GPS. Subject said she currently resides in Covington, Georgia, and was not familiar with where she was. Subject was questioned on how her GPS brought her to Monroe when she resides at a Covington address, and she stated she felt interrogated. Subject was then given a courtesy ride to Waffle House.
  • Domestic Dispute – Cook Street- In reference to a domestic dispute between two subjects. The parties were separated. Report taken.
  • Mental Patient – Breedlove Dr @ Ridgeview; Subject located and turned over to be transported by EMS to Piedmont Walton.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 138 @ Tokyo; In reference to a silver passenger car on location since Friday. Vehicle was removed by owner.
  • Suspicious vehicle – Hwy 138 @ Hwy 78 WB exit- Complainant stated a vehicle almost ran them off the road, area checked without contact.
  • Stolen Vehicle – W Spring St. The vehicle was determined not to be stolen and located. Returned to the owner without incident.
  • Accident – Hwy 138 @ Michael Etchison Rd- Two vehicle accident without damage, GEARs report completed.
  • Vehicle Accident – S Madison/E Church St- Two vehicle accident with a complainant of minor injuries involving a Walton County Deputy. Scene turned over to GSP.
  • Other Law – 140 Blaine St – In reference to the complainant wanting Law Enforcement to stand by while a marketplace transaction occurred.
  • Domestic – Mill Stone Bluff – In reference to a domestic dispute over calling the wife outside of her name. Parties separated for the night, remedies advised.
  • Juvenile Complaint – Tall Oaks Lane – In reference to several juveniles jumping another. The area was checked with negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – N Broad St & Pavilion Pkwy – In reference to the complainant wanting Law Enforcement to stand by while a marketplace transaction occurred.
  • Alarm – E Highland Dr. All windows and doors were secured; all ok.
  • Sexual Assualt – West Spring St. (Piedmount Walton) I was dispatched to a call of a 6-year-old child being sexually assaulted while at visitation at her father’s residence. CID was notified, and CID advised that the S.A.N.E nurse would contact the mother on the following date to schedule an appointment and location where to bring the child for the S.A.N.E nurse’s exam.
  • Area Check – St Ives & McDaniel St – In reference to the complainant advising of a white expedition with their flashers on looking for their K9. The complainant advised they were concerned they might be hit by another vehicle due to speeding vehicles.
  • Accident with injury by complaint – S Madison Ave at E Church St. One vehicle was towed by Taylor’s. The roadway cleared, report completed in GEARS.
  • Juvenile Runaway – East Marable – In reference to a 16-year-old running away from home after a dispute. Report taken.
  • Accident/Deer – W Spring St & Carwood Dr – Single-vehicle accident with deer. GEARS report completed.
  • Juvenile Problem – West Spring Street; Mcdonalds – The complaint was that a juvenile was sitting on top of a vehicle in the drive thru of the Mcdonalds. Negative contact made.
  • Traffic Stop/ Foot Pursuit – McDaniel Street / Spruce Lane – Traffic stop conducted due to observing a named subject operating the vehicle with multiple warrants out of Barrow County and Walton County. She then fled on foot from a traffic stop and was apprehended after a foot pursuit. Warrants were confirmed, and she was charged with Misd. Obstruction. Passenger in the vehicle was also arrested for false name, DOB, and an outstanding warrant out of Monroe PD. Both subjects were transported to WCSO Jail without further incident. Warrants obtained, UOF completed, report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 138 traveling towards the city. The complainant’s claim was that the vehicle failed to maintain the county’s lane. The vehicle turned onto Highway 78 East, and the complainant lost contact. Negative contact was made with the vehicle.
  • Traffic Stop/Arrest – Highway 138; Dunkin – Vehicle stopped for improper tag displayed. Driver was arrested for Misd. Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Sch. ll (Cocaine), and Poss. of Drug Related Objects and transported to WCSO Jail without incident.
  • Prowler – Belle Meade- The Complainant stated that she heard a loud noise on the window about 30 minutes before the call. The area was checked, and no signs of anyone in the area or attempt of entry were made.
  • Burglary Attempt – Sporty Lane – In reference to someone trying to enter the back door. Area check with no contact. No signs of forced entry present.
  • 911 Hangup – Plaza Dr; – In reference to subject having a medical episode. Turned over to EMS.
  • Mental Patient – Breedlove Drive – In reference to a male patient that left out the back door. Call was canceled due to patient returning.
  • Property Damage – Unisa Drive In reference to Hatachi’s gate damaging a van. Report taken.
  • Theft – Nowell St. – In reference to a dog that was taken, complainant was not on location. Advised complainant to report the incident when they are available.
  • Civil Issue – 140 Blaine St.; Monroe PD – In reference to complainant wishing to retrieve a 2018 Hyundai Elantra from subject. Complainant sold the vehicle to subject’s husband some time ago and has not been paid. Civil remedies advised.
  • Mechanical Breakdown – MLK Jr. Blvd/West Spring – In reference to the mechanical breakdown, the driver started the vehicle without a problem when I arrived on location.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – E Spring St.; Popeye’s – In reference to a 2013 Kia Soul sitting in the parking lot for approximately one month. Negative contact with the registered owner. Vehicle not stolen per GCIC/NCIC. Management was advised they would need to contact Taylor’s to have the vehicle removed.
  • Damage to Property – S. Madison Ave.- In reference to a green Ford F150 being struck by an unknown vehicle, report taken.
  • Suspicious Person – W Spring St. – In reference to a female asking for money from people driving by. Contact was made with the female and she was advised she could not ask people for money and sent on her way.
  • Threats – GW Carver Dr. – In reference to complainant stating that she was being harassed/threatened by her sister-in-law. Report taken; Remedies advised.
  • Dispute – 10 Rose Ison Ter. – In reference to a dispute between two subjects, the dispute was over $20 and was not physical. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Stewart Court- In reference to an illegally parked vehicle, contact was made with the owner and the vehicle was removed.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – W Spring St. / Hwy 138 – In reference to a southern stages bus driving recklessly, the area was checked with negative contact.
  • Welfare Check – Sycamore Court – In reference to subject being off her medication. Father was on scene. All ok.
  • Area Check – Claywill Cir – In reference to an area check to see if the complainant’s ex- boyfriend was on location because he is not supposed to be at the residence.
  • Mental Patient – Sycamore Court – In reference to subject referenced above having a mental episode. She took her medicine while Officers were on scene.
  • Wanted Person/Foot Pursuit – Lacy Street. In reference to Officer observing a named. Upon making contact, he fled on foot. A foot pursuit was initiated and ended on Davis Street where he was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with City Ordinance 62-1; DOC and turned over to Barrow County at Wind-stream for his arrest warrants. Report taken.
