Dozens of veterans, civic leaders, family members and others came out in May 16, 2026 for the formal dedication of the new VFW Post 4421 building in Monroe.
The local Veterans of Foreign Wars post was housed for years in a small building at the corner of Court Street and Midland Avenue. Led by former Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman, however, the VFW acquired a new property on Snows Mill Road and, with the help of the wider community, opened a new building to house the VFW in the future.
Chapman said he was proud to see the new Post open, thanks to the help of numerous local businesses, contributors and many others.
“There’s a long list of people who helped us build this space,” Chapman said.
The full story on how this new home for the VFW came about can be found in the latest Walton Living Magazine, published earlier in the year. Copies are available at the Walton Tribune offices in downtown Monroe.
