Sandra “Sandy” Lee Copeland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024. Born on November 27, 1955, in Schenectady, NY, Sandra was a longtime resident of Loganville, GA, where she lived since 1989.
Sandy is survived by her devoted husband, Mallory Kim Copeland, her children Amanda Gettler; Christopher Copeland and his wife Shonda; and Caroline Copeland and her husband Bill Range, who are joyfully expecting a baby boy in February; her cherished adopted children and grandchildren, Dylan, Christian, and Kaylee Copeland; and her adored grandchildren, Genevieve and Adalyn Copeland (children of Chris and Shonda) and Kaden (child of Kelsey Blanchard and her late stepson, Michael Copeland). Sandy is also survived by her sister, Barbara Doll, and nephew, Robert Doll. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Mary Brast; her brother, George Brast; and her stepson, Michael Copeland.
Sandy was a talented artist, known for her expressive portraits, serene landscapes, and intricate
miniatures. She was also a lifelong gardener and an early pioneer in cultivating microgreens for Atlanta’s fine dining scene, pairing her passion for cooking with her love for nature. She began her career as a cook and never lost her love for creating delicious meals and baked goods for her family and friends.
A three-time breast cancer survivor, Sandy was a source of strength and resilience. She had a special love for elephants and was a passionate advocate for their humane treatment, inspiring those around her to join her cause. Sandy also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether playing a lively game of Scrabble or relaxing at the beach, where she felt truly at peace.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024—which would have been Sandra’s 69th birthday—at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, located at 670 Tom Brewer Rd, Loganville, GA 30052. The visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
