Obituary and funeral service: Cowboy Bill Holden, 79, of Monroe

Cowboy Bill Holden, age 79 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in the Monroe Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Minister Don Hardison will officiate. Entombment will be at Hill Haven Memory Gardens in Monroe.

Bill was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from the US Navy where he was an ADR- Recruiter. Cowboy Bill Holden was the Official Cowboy Ambassador of the State of Georgia. He was the host of The Cowboy Way Radio Show, WIMO 1300 AM Winder, GA. Inducted into the Atlanta, GA Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999. Ga Radio Personality of the Year 2007. Appeared in numerous Georgia made motion pictures (Fried Green Tomatoes, My Cousin Vinny, Consenting Adults, Not without My Daughter). TV appearances include In the Heat of the Night, I’ll Fly Away and Murder in Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 30 years, Evie (Dorsett) Holden; son, Sidney Wayne Holden; parents, William Kemp & Caroline (Green) Holden. Cowboy Bill is survived by his son William Robert Holden of Kennesaw; granddaughter, Victoria Holden of Savannah; sister, Elizabeth Chandler of VA.
