Diane Moon Turner, 75, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 11, 2024 in the Loganville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Kuykendall and Keith Wages officiating. Interment will be held at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 6372 Highway 20, Loganville.
Diane was born on June 18, 1949 in Lawrenceville, GA but grew up in Loganville and Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Louise Moon; brothers, Douglas Moon and Gary Moon. She married Michael H. Turner on October 24, 1970 and they lived their entire lives and raised two sons, Michael and Brian, in Loganville.
Diane is survived by her husband, Michael Turner; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Janese Turner, Brian and Dana Turner; grandchildren, Anesse Giles and her husband Austin Giles, Lindsey Huffman and her husband Josh Huffman, Brice Turner, Diana Turner, Michael “Mick” Turner; great grandson, Carter Huffman; uncles, Carl Moon and Merritt Moon; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Diane was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and never missed a Georgia game at Sanford Stadium or by watching on the TV. Her illness never prevented her from cheering the Dawgs on even when she was in the hospital. The nurses at Northside would comment they could hear her hollering in her room for the Dawgs.
Diane was also a dedicated mother of Michael and Brian whom she loved dearly. She was a stay at home mom until Michael and Brian were in high school and middle school. Diane then went back to school and received her degree from UGA and became an official UGA Dawg. After graduation, Diane taught algebra at Loganville Middle School until she retired in 2000. She loved teaching and had a great rapport with many of her students. After teaching she felt she could contribute more to her community, so she served on the Board of Education (where her Grandfather Homer Moon had served for many years) until January 2023 when she had to resign due to her progressive illness.
