Obituary and funeral service: Jerrell ‘Deane’ Ford Rutledge, 80, of Monroe

Jerrell “Deane” Foard Rutledge was born in Matthews, North Carolina. There she spent her early years before her family relocated to a farm in Fort Mill, South Carolina. She received her education at Indian Land School.

It was during her studies at the Hamlet School of Nursing in Hamlet, North Carolina, that she met her husband, Bemis Locklear. The two married shortly thereafter and started their family of four, eventually settling in Cartersville, Georgia.

Deane found joy in the simple pleasures of life — sewing, tending her garden, and keeping her yard. Yet nothing brought her greater happiness than the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished.

She passed away on May 24, 2026, and is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Landreneau of Watkinsville, Georgia; her son, Anthony Locklear, and his wife Tiffani, of Monroe, Georgia; her stepson, John Rutledge; her grandchildren, Hilary, Hannah (Michael), and Avery Burchfield, Gage Scott (Allison), and Gabriel and Gadsten Locklear; her great-grandchildren, Brooks, Madeleine, Oliver, Elliot, and Raiden; and her brothers, Joe Foard and his wife Brenda, and George Henry Foard.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her
