Obituary and funeral services: James ‘Jimmy’ Correll, 85, of Monroe

screen-shot-2017-01-05-at-6-57-51-amMr. James “Jimmy” C. Correll, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Piedmont Athens Regional Center at the age of 85. Jimmy was born in Avon Park, Florida to the late Lloyd and Virginia Correll. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son Jimmy Correll.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sarah Correll, his children; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Kym and Randy Ward, Lynn and Chuck Stambro, Marie and Rick Hargrove, sons and daughters-in-law, DeWayne and Fran Burdette, Phillip Burdette, Charles and Teri Burdette, Jamie and Tammy Correll, sister Katherine Hurn, 24 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

Jimmy proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War, and then went on to a career in law enforcement. He retired from Tampa Bay, FL. Police Dept., and Lilburn Police Dept in Georgia, and also in the Office of Special Investigations. His family saw him as the greatest man that every lived with a great sense of humor, “the man, the myth, the legend”.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1pm at Gracepointe Church of Nazarene 2900 Rosebud Rd. Loganville, GA.
