Shirley Ruth Evans Burton, age 81 of Monroe, passed away on August 9, 2026. She was born in Walton County, GA in April 14, 1945 to the late Lee Pirkle Evans and the late Minnie Kirk Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Burton; her sisters, the late RL Stapp, the late Sadie Evans, the late Peggy Cannon, and the late Dorothy Shelnutt; brothers, the late Leo Evans and the late Pete Evans.

Surviving are daughter and son in law, Sheila and Mike Fulcher; sisters and brother in law, Amanda and John Reid and Bonnie Smith; beloved dog, Cocoa.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday August 12th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Meadows Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 13th at 2:00 PM at the Monroe Church of God with the Rev. Kip Boswell and the Rev. Wayne Durden officiating. Interment will follow at Campton Church Cemetery. Meadows Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
