Monroe, Ga. (Nov. 13, 2025) – Piedmont Walton Hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
“Receiving an ‘A’ grade from the Leapfrog Group is an outstanding achievement and reflects Piedmont Walton’s dedication to providing the safest possible environment for our patients,” said Blake Watts, CEO of Piedmont Walton Hospital. “This accomplishment validates the work we do every day to deliver the healthcare services our community needs as safely as possible and underscores our commitment to excellence and to putting patient safety at the forefront of everything we do.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Piedmont Walton has made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
“I want to thank the physicians, clinicians, nurses and every member of the Piedmont Walton hospital staff for their incredibly hard work creating a culture that makes patient safety a top priority, ensuring patients can receive high-quality, safe care close to home,” said Watts.
