The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a fraudulent website designed to imitate its official website in what is known as a domain squatting scam. Officials say the fake site, waltonsheriff.us, could be used in phishing attempts to trick people into sharing personal or sensitive information.
The Sheriff’s Office has taken steps to have the cloned website removed and reminds the public to use only its official website at waltonsheriff.com. Anyone who visited the fake site and believes they may have shared personal information is encouraged to monitor their accounts and report any suspicious activity.
