Event is scheduled for June 20th
SOCIAL CIRCLE, GA (May 15, 2026) – Now in its 5th year since the inaugural Juneteenth celebration in Social Circle, the tradition will continue on Saturday, June 20, 2026. It is actually six years since its celebration. It would have been the fifth in 2025 but last year had to be cancelled due to weather.
This year it will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Friendship Park located on N. Cherokee Road in Social Circle.
Social Circle Councilman Tyson Jackson said they are seeking vendors for this year’s celebration of freedom which will include food, music, games and prizes.
“Calling All Vendors, Whether you craft, cook, design, whatever it Is we have a spot for you. We’d love to have you,” Tyson said.

When Jackson and a group of residents planned the inaugural event, it was not an official holiday in Georgia, or any other state except for Texas. But that changed on June 17 2021 when former President Joe Biden signed a bill into law recognizing June 19, 1865, as the day Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger led soldiers to Galveston, Texas, to let it be known that the Union had won the war and the ending of slavery would be enforced.
