Tequila Street Taqueria brings rooftop dining to downtown Loganville

The long-awaited rooftop restaurant in downtown Loganville has finally opened its doors.

Originally expected to open sometime in 2024, the project, as is often the case with restaurants, took a couple more years before it was ready to welcome customers.

Although it still has a couple of weeks to go before its official grand opening, Tequila Street Taqueria has been holding a soft opening, giving those in the know an opportunity to try it out. And by most accounts, it has proven to be worth the wait.

The restaurant was originally planned as another location of Tacos N Beer, but the concept has evolved, including changes to the décor, design and name.

Tequila Street Taqueria brings a unique dining experience to downtown Loganville. In addition to an upstairs bar and rooftop patio dining area overlooking downtown, the restaurant also offers a more family-oriented dining experience downstairs, with a clear wall providing a view into the adjacent Game On Main game room.

The design allows adults to enjoy a meal in the downstairs dining room while keeping an eye on children playing in the game room on the other side of the divide.

Loganville Councilwoman Lisa Newberry, who stopped in with friends after the grand opening of the new Loganville Library, gave the new dining experience the thumbs up, saying the food and service were really good and the prices were reasonable.

With the new library now open downtown and a new, unique dining option joining the area’s growing lineup of businesses, downtown Loganville may be taking another step toward the revitalization community leaders and residents have been looking forward to for years.

From rooftop restaurant vision to downtown destination

The story of Tequila Street Taqueria began more than two years ago, when visitors to downtown Loganville watched the first rooftop restaurant take shape at 262 Main Street.

The original announcement was that Tacos N Beer Grill and Bar would be opening at the location. The project was part of an effort by then councilman now Mayor Branden Whitfield and his family, owners of BBK Rentals, to renovate the Main Street property and help bring new activity to downtown Loganville.

As the project progressed, the plans expanded. A second building next door was acquired to provide additional space for the restaurant, while the back portion of the building was planned as a new arcade and game room, eventually becoming Game On Main.

The two projects were intended to introduce new entertainment and dining options while maintaining the historic, small-town character of downtown Loganville.

What began as plans for a new Tacos N Beer location has now evolved into Tequila Street Taqueria, with Game On Main next door providing an additional entertainment option for visitors.

The result is a combination of rooftop dining, family dining, games and downtown entertainment — all within the Main Street area.

With the restaurant now welcoming customers during its soft opening and its official grand opening still ahead, downtown Loganville residents and visitors finally have the opportunity to experience a project that has been several years in the making.
