The Monroe Market opens April 5 for the 2025 season

The Monroe Market returns next weekend for the 2025 season. Weekly markets begin April 5th and run weekly, each Saturday, until July 26th from 9 am to 1 pm. Then, the Market will be back Sept. 6th through Nov. 22nd for a Fall/Winter season.

The market takes place on Court Street in downtown Monroe and is a Wholesome Wave/Fresh for Less market, which means EBT dollars spent at the market are doubled. The programs also include Senior Bucks which gives the first $5 free on the last Saturday of every month to anybody 65 or above.

New this season is Monroe Market Artisan Fairs that will be held on the 1st Saturday of each month during market season. In addition to weekly vendors, the market will welcome a variety of local artisans to join, helping to create a festival feeling. These Artisan Fairs will take place on April 5, May 3, June 7, July 5, Sept. 6, Oct. 4 and Nov. 1.

According to the website, “the Monroe Market is “an initiative to encourage citizens to buy fresh, locally grown produce and goods. The market is operated and comprised by its membership of farmers, growers, and artisan vendors.”

The goal is to:

1) provide local growers and artisans an outlet to showcase and market products;

2) publicize the importance of locally grown products;

3) provide opportunities for presentations and demonstrations related to agriculture, gardening, food safety and preparation; and 4) allow citizens of Monroe and the surrounding area the opportunity to buy healthy, locally grown products to enhance their quality of lifestyle.
