If you have not yet voted for your favorite fall decorations – Highland Village or Walton Village – today, Nov. 23, is the last day! The votes on Facebook will be tallied on Tuesday and the winner announced before Thanksgiving! If you have voted already, thanks for helping the residents of these two villages enjoy the spirit of the season.
Highland Village and Walton Village independent living apartments in Monroe have come up with a unique way to enjoy the season despite this year’s restrictions as a result of COVID-19. They have instituted a fall decorations challenge between the two facilities and they are asking the community to help decide the winner.
“My sister is the manager of Highland Village and a good friend is the manager at Walton Village and the two got together and decided to do this,” Marvin Gray of Monroe said. “It’s just a friendly competition – nobody is going to get upset about it if they don’t win.”
Gray said maybe the losing team will provide a cup of coffee for the winners. It is just a way to end the year on a high note.
“I just hope that people will take and look at this and have a smile,” he said. “I mean look at what we’re looking at at this time. We need something.”
This is where you can help. We have pictures of the decorations below – A is for Walton Village and B is for Highland Village. In the comment section on Facebook, please include your choice for either A or B. We will keep the story pinned to the top of the page for a month, from Oct. 23 to Nov. 23. We will then tally the votes, and let it be known who gets to provide the cups of coffee for the other village.
Please participate – it will help lighten the load for these folks who have had a pretty tough year.
