Traffic alert: Repairs on Interstate 85 barrier wall begin Sunday night

press release from Georgia Department of Transportation

DULUTH, Ga.,-Contracting partners will implement a single lane closure tonight from 9 p.m. overnight to  5 a.m. in order to repair the concrete barrier wall on Interstate 85 (I-85) northbound between Jimmy Carter Boulevard (Exit 99) and Indian Trail Road (Exit 105)  that sustained damage earlier in the month.

This closure will allow contractors to place a temporary barrier on the shoulder that will remain in place for the duration of the emergency repair project. Work will continue without restrictions until this wall is repaired.

An additional single lane closure will also begin on Monday morning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on  Dawson Boulevard, the access road nearest this repair. This single lane closure will remain in place daily for the duration of the project.

Please drive alert as this project will be ongoing for the next month and workers and equipment will be in close proximity to travel lanes.
