Update: 2 injured 2 arrested in overnight shooting in Monroe

Monroe Public Safety Director Keith Glass reports that two arrest have been made and more arrest are expected in the overnight shooting Wednesday on Pine Park Street.

According to a press release from Monroe Police Department, at about 2239 on June 14, MPD officers responded to reports of gunshot wounds at 501 Pine Park St, arriving to find a 16-year old juvenile and Jahna Norman, 25, suffering from gunshot wounds. They rendered aid, following which the juvenile was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital and Norman was transported to Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. Both has since been released.

MPD reports that several shots were fired from a vehicle, two of which struck the victims and several others struck parked cars. MFD assisted the victims and provided lighting to the area to assist detectives as they processed the crime scene.

“ I am very thankful and appreciative for the professionalism and actions taken by MPD, MFD, Walton EMS and WCSO last night. We in Monroe and Walton County are very fortunate to have the quality of Public Safety Services we have here,” Glass said.
