Update: Alleged victim and accomplice sought in kidnapping scam

Gwinnett County Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the alleged victim and her accomplice in an armed robbery and car theft that happened on Jan. 31, 2018. According to a press release form GCPD, the lead detective on this case has learned that the female (originally thought to be a kidnap victim) and male suspect knew each other and it appears that they worked together in an an alleged pre-planned armed robbery.  The female, now known as Christina Day, 20, of Atlanta, is no longer considered a “kidnapping victim.” Instead warrants have been issued for her arrest for armed robbery and motor vehicle theft. The male suspect, identified as Timothy Winfield, 30, of Atlanta, has active warrants for armed robbery, motor vehicle theft, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Initial Story

Gwinnett Police have put out a call for help in locating the suspect and a female victim in an alleged home invasion type of armed robbery and kidnapping at a hotel in Gwinnett County overnight. The suspect left in the car of the victim and took a female victim with him.

According to a report from Gwinnett County Police Department, officers responded to the report of a carjacking at  7044 Jimmy Carter Blvd at about 2:10am on Jan. 31, 2018. Police report that the male victim said he and the alleged victim, a black woman, had a man appear at their hotel room with a gun. He demanded the victim’s property and forced the female at gunpoint to leave in the male victim’s car with him. The car was later recovered by  Chamblee Police in their jurisdiction, but neither the male suspect or the female victim have been located.

The female victim may answer to “Kristen” and is described as:
Black female
Tall, medium-heavy build
Mid to late 20s
Heart tattoo on left wrist
Hair – thick dreadlocks
Last seen wearing: dark jeans, bright green dress tucked into jeans (like a shirt), light jean jacket

The male suspect is described as:
Black male
About 5’08” tall, medium build
Hair – twists, about 2″ long, scruffy facial hair
Gold tooth
