Update
Robbie Schwartz with the City of Loganville said they expect the disruption to traffic on Highway 81 to be for several more hours.
“The line is a fiber optic cable and a special crew is being sent out to deal with it, though they have yet to arrive,” Schwartz said. “We expect this to take several more hours. Northbound traffic is being re-routed down Tom Brewer Road and southbound traffic down Twin Lakes Road.”
Schwartz said the road will likely be closed until after midnight.
“AT&T said it will take 2 hours to get a crew at the scene and at least two hours to make the repairs.”

Highway 81 is shut down between Tara Blvd and Meridian Park due to power lines down. Avoid this area. Traffic is being diverted to Tom Brewer Road.
