Officials with Loganville Police Department are on the scene at Race Trac in Loganville in response to a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a traffic stop.
“It is being investigated as a suicide,” Robbie Schwartz with the City of Loganville said. “I can confirm the man is from Monroe. His identity is not being released at this time.
“The LPD officer was responding to a report from an off-duty Walton County deputy who saw the car and remembered it matching the description of a vehicle associated with a missing person report filed yesterday,” Schwartz said. “When the LPD officer approached the vehicle, the driver pulled out of the parking space and to a different part of the parking lot. The officer returned to his cruiser, pulled up behind the car and turned his lights on. When the officer got out and approached the vehicle, he heard a loud pop and immediately called for assistance and EMS.”
