Update
The identify of the young girl who died and the other one who was critically injured in yesterday’s fatal car crash have been released. Cpl. Cal Barton the the GSP confirmed that the front seat passenger who did not survive is Vanessa Martin, 16, of Good Hope. The injured back seat passenger who was lifeflighted is confirmed to be Kaylee Mathews, 16, of Loganville. She was ejected from the vehicle. Neither girls were wearing seatbelts.
“The drivers name is not b being released due to it being a juvenile and charges are pending the investigation,” Barton said.
Update
A 16-year-old girl died and another was lifeflighted in critical condition following a single vehicle crash on Alcovy Station Road in Jersey, Ga. on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Cpl. Cal Barton with Georgia State Patrol, a Chevrolet Trail Blazer was traveling north on Alcovy Station Road when the driver lost control. The vehicle traveled off the east shoulder and struck a tree with the passenger’s side.
The front seat passenger died on the scene and the back seat passenger was life-flighted to Atlanta Medical Center. The male driver was injured and transported to Eastside Medical Center.
No names are being released at this time to ensure that all next of kin are notified.
Initial Story
Jersey, Ga. – Walton County Fire Rescue first responders and Georgia State Patrol responded to a serious crash involving one vehicle and a tree on Alcovy Station Road near McGarity Park at about 4:43 p.m. today, Dec. 29, 2020.
WCFR Assistant Fire Chief Craig League reported that one critically injured patient was life-flighted from the scene. At this time no information is available on any other injuries.
