Update: One guitar stolen from David’s 105 recovered intact, second one found damaged

Juveniles charged in the theft

Update:

MONROE, GA (March 14, 2026) City of Monroe Police Department announced Friday that two juveniles have been charged with Burglary and Theft by Taking following the burglary last month at David’s 105 Listen Room where money and two prized guitars were stolen. One of the guitars had already been found behind Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts, but fortunately the second one has been recovered intact.

“The suspects entered the business and stole two guitars and some cash. Through surveillance footage and a social media flyer, detectives identified the two juvenile suspects, who later admitted to the burglary after detectives contacted their parents, who fully cooperated with the investigation,” MPD announced in a social media post, adding that the case has been referred to the Walton County Juvenile Court.

“This is a photo of my prized Taylor 514 30th Anniversary edition which has come home thanks to the hard work of the Monroe Police Department investigators,” David Dickinson wrote. “The burglary is solved and the thieves have been arrested. I am saddened to report that the burglar/thieves are juveniles. Thankfully, this guitar was not destroyed like the electric.”

Initial story

MONROE, GA (Feb. 28, 2026) – David Dickinson, a Monroe councilman and the owner of David’s 105 Listening Room in downtown Monroe, is offering a reward for the arrest and conviction of the burglar who robbed his listening room of money and two guitars overnight.

“Friends, today is a sad day for me and I need your help. Last night, some demented individual burglarized David’s 105 and stole two of my guitars,” Dickinson posted on social media, going on to note that he will pay a $1,000 reward to anybody who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the burglar.

Dickinson said money also was stolen from the cash drawer leading Dickinson to believe that the thief will likely try and fence the two guitars. The subject appeared to know which were the more common guitars, taking two that were more distinct and leaving the more common ones behind. The two that were stolen, however, are also of sentimental value to Dickinson.

“The acoustic is a Taylor 514ce 30th Anniversary Edition. It differs from the stock photo in that it says 30th Anniversary on the headstock. The electric is an Epiphone Joe Perry Boneyard Les Paul,” Dickinson said. “These guitars, especially the Taylor, have great sentimental value to me.”

Dickson said, for this reason he is offering the $1,000 reward. Below are stock photos of the type of guitars that were stolen.

Dickinson said both guitars are distinctive and not many of either are in circulation. If anybody has any information they are asked to contact the Monroe Police Department handling the investigation.
