The Social Circle Police Department, along with the Walton County Coroner’s Office has identified the male struck and killed by the train Monday evening as 23-year-old Kennette Anthony Madera-Martinez of Florida.
“The investigation revealed that Mr. Martinez was here from Florida seeking employment and was scheduled to start a job in Monroe this week. Mr. Martinez was seen walking the tracks around 10 a.m. Monday morning approximately 5 miles from the incident location. It is still uncertain why he was on the tracks however, we did find his personal effects on scene which indicated that he was a transient,” Social Circle Police Chief Tyrone Oliver said in a press release. “Again, there is no evidence to suggest that foul play was involved.”

According to Social Circle Police Chief Tyrone Oliver, a man was struck and killed by a train on the CSX tracks in the area of Cain Avenue and Flower Mills Nursery in Social Circle Monday night. Police were dispatched on the call at about 7:15 p.m. on June 26, 2017.
“Upon arrival, first responders located the unidentified light skinned black or hispanic male on the tracks with extensive injuries,” Oliver said in a press release. “The Social Circle Fire Department and Walton County EMS rendered aid but the male was pronounced deceased on scene.”
Oliver said they are currently working to identify the male and looking into why he was on the tracks.
“As of now it does not appear that foul play was involved but a complete and thorough investigation will be conducted,” Oliver said.
