Update
Battalion Chief Craig League with Walton County Fire Rescue reports that eight people in total were transported to area hospitals following the wreck on Highway 11 at Mountain Creek Road. Three of the patients were children. Two of the children were life flighted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, the third one was taken by Walton County EMS to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville. The five adults were transported by Walton EMS and Barrow County EMS to Gwinnett Medical Center and Piedmont Athens Regional.
Initial report
A serious wreck with multiple injuries on Highway 11 at Mountain Creek Church Road has completely shut down the roadway. According to officials with Walton County Fire Rescue, two medical helicopters and Barrow County EMS have been called in to assist.
Avoid the area until further notice. Details to follow.
