Update: WCSO seeks information from the public in overnight fire

Update

Walton County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on the fire last night at 2720 John Stowe Road to please come forward.

“Last night, a fire occurred at 2720 John Stowe Road. The building was a total loss. Not only was their tremendous loss to the owners, but firefighters lives were at risk fighting the flames,” WCSO wrote on its Facebook page. “Fire investigators from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office conducted a scene assessment and are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact the Walton County Sheriff’s Office at 770-267-2391”

Capt. Jeff Allen with Walton County Fire Rescue said an old warehouse/barn structure on John Stowe Spur near Shoal Creek Road in Walton County was destroyed by fire overnight.

“It was fully involved upon arrival,” Allen said. (The) cause is under investigation.”
Allen said crews responded at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2018, and worked until about 4 a.m. in some harsh cold weather conditions.
