The Walton County YMCA is now enrolling students in its Afterschool Program, which provides a safe and engaging environment for children after school. The program includes homework help, STEAM activities, active play, healthy snacks, and caring mentors designed to help children build confidence and succeed.
The YMCA notes that children who participate in quality afterschool programs are three times more likely to graduate college and build brighter futures. The program also focuses on developing friendships, healthy habits, creativity, and a sense of belonging.

In Walton County, the afterschool program is offered to Atha Road Elementary, Monroe Elementary and Walker Park Elementary. If you have a home-schooler, or you are looking to enroll your child from a school that transportation is not provided, You may drop them off each day.
With a focus on safety, health, social growth and academic enhancement, the Y Afterschool Program serves students in grades K-5 with a variety of program and activity options to explore and develop their interests and talents. Each day, children are given the opportunity to partake in a variety of physical activities including sports, team building, swimming, outside play, STEAM activities and more! Children are offered a healthy meal as they arrive. Once meal time is finished, the children then are able to choose from a number of activities available each day.
The non-refundable registration fee is $45 and weekly fees are $55 a week for members and $70 a week for non members. If you have more than one child, a 10% discount is offered for each additional child. The Walton County YMCA is able to offer scholarships to families who are not able to afford the regularly weekly fees for the afterschool program. If you need financial assistance, you can fill out the scholarship application at the link below and turn it in a least two weeks prior to the child or children starting in the program.
