With a moderately high fire danger over the weekend, Walton County Fire Rescue reported that Sunday was a busy day with crews responding to several brush fires.
“It was a yellow flag day, meaning use caution with outdoor burning. Ga Forestry was issuing burn permits,” said Battalion Chief Craig League with WCFR. “Several of the fires were a result of not containing the fire burn piles. One fire on Whitney Road burned nearly 10 acres and resulted in a citation for the person who started the fire, for burning without a permit.”
Today, Monday, March 6, the fire danger is between moderate and high and anybody wishing to burn is reminded that a permit is required.
