press release from Whataburger

Purchase of a medium fry and medium drink and the $1 donation will also get a burger

April marks the Month of the Military Child, and Whataburger is recognizing the more than 1.6 million military-connected youth through a nationwide fundraiser that gives customers a free Whataburger in return for a $1 donation.

From April 1 through April 30, guests can donate $1 at checkout at participating locations, including at the counter and drive-thru. In exchange, they will receive a coupon for a free Whataburger with the purchase of a medium fry and medium drink.

Proceeds benefit Gratitude Initiative, which provides education programs and scholarships to help military children succeed in college, career, and life while navigating the unique challenges of military family life. Funds raised will directly support these programs.

Over the past two years, the campaign has generated $600,000, helping enroll over 650 students into Gratitude Initiative’s College Success Academy across the country and provide thousands of dollars in scholarships.
