Gun shop burglary in Athens Sunday similar to the one at 3X Firearms in Loganville

A local gun club was burglarized in Athens early Sunday morning in a similar way to one that took place in Loganville on April 19. In the Loganville burglary, a single suspect was seen taking guns from the 3X Firearms store in the Gwinnett County side of the city after driving a stolen vehicle into the store. A second suspect was waiting in a getaway car. In Athens, surveillance video shows one male drive a Jeep through the storefront and four others entered the business and steal multiple firearms. In that case, all five suspects left the scene in a newer model white Audi with a sunroof.

Robbie Schwartz, a spokesman for the City of Loganville, said the two departments have spoken and feel that there is a probability that it is the same crew.

“Going forward we will be coordinating our efforts with Athens-Clarke County Police and the ATF,” Schwartz said.

In the meantime, Athens Clarke County Police are actively investigating the burglary that took place on Sunday and asking anyone with information to contact Det. Davidson at 706-353-4218, ext 138. A $1,000 Crime Stoppers Reward is being offered for information leading to arrests in the incident. The Crime Stoppers Tip line is 706-705-4775.
