Legislative Day 10 Done . . . Off to Rules
With Legislative Day 10 done, we are now one-fourth of the way through the 40-day session. The House and Senate agreed and passed an adjournment resolution that set our legislative schedule for the remainder of the session. The 2018 Session of the Georgia General Assembly will end at 12 midnight on Thursday, March 29, 2018.

House Rules Committee taking up legislation
Committees met frequently this past week and began considering legislation. The House Rules Committee, on which I serve as Vice Chair, met for the first meeting of the session on Thursday, January 25. After bills pass their respective committees, they must also pass out of the Rules Committee, which determines which bills should be debated and voted on the House floor. Next week we will consider the first piece of legislation to reach the House floor, HB 661that I co-authored with Reps Bruce Williamson of Walton County and Jay Powell of Camilla. The measure deals with the filing, recording, and release of property tax liens.
National Guard Day at the Capitol
The House celebrated National Guard Day at the Capitol on Thursday by recognizing some of our state’s most honorable citizens. Since 9/11, over 18,000 Georgia National Guard members have been deployed overseas, and more than 200 are currently deployed. These courageous men and women have selflessly served our state and it was an honor to recognize their great contributions and sacrifices for all Americans. [Photo at top with Guardsmen 2017]
