Truck pulling horse trailer struck by train

It was a busy day in Walton County for law enforcement with a couple of unusual incidents requiring responses. A truck with a crane overturned in the morning and following that, public safety officials in Walton County were called to a collision between a train and a Ford F-350 pulling a horse trailer.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Cal Barton, Solomon Ready, 53, of Rembert, SC was turning from Hightower Trail onto Knox Chapel Road in the F-350, pulling a horse trailer.

“The long horse trailer managed to get stuck in a low spot. The driver was unable to free it prior to the train’s arrival,” Barton said. “The train struck the truck causing extensive damage.”

Baron said there were no injuries reported for the driver or the horses. The driver was given a warning for failure to yield.
