There is a saying in media that goes, “If it bleeds it leads” (or ledes if you want to clarify the pronunciation) and sadly for the most part, at least for the top most-read stories on Your Local News for 2018, that proves once again to be true. The good news, however, is that the most accessed page continues to be the home page and for that we are extremely grateful. It means that many of our readers access the site directly to get regular news updates. Thank you!
As was the case in 2017, the top most-read stories in 2018 were a reflection of the tragedies that occurred in the community. We had to go all the way to No. 21 to get the first good news story in. That was the plans for all the new restaurants coming to downtown Monroe – something exciting to look forward to in 2019.
Sadly, most of these stories reflect sad incidents and losses that were experienced by many in our community during 2018. Our hope for the community is that we have much more upbeat and happy news to celebrate when we get to ring in the year 2020.
Happy New Year from Your Local News and best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, Peaceful and Prosperous 2019.
